During the month of May 2020, the Billboard Project Antwerp presents artists and art- students of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp and Sint Lucas Antwerp.

200 posters / works of art, placed in billboards in the Antwerp streets, contribute to society during this difficult times. Artists share their thoughts and emotions about the current pandemic crisis.

The world is currently facing an extraordinary situation.

The artists responded promptly by activating the empty billboards in the empty streets. This is their contribution. Everyone is in the same boat: we are confronted with the other and with ourselves. Art can depict those feelings and give hope.

The Antwerp District supports this unique artistic collaboration. Femke Meeusen:

“Thanks to this project, artists can share their work with the outside world during these special weeks. Antwerp residents in turn can enjoy art in our streets. ”
